It's a common occurrence for two or more actors to play the same comic-book role, especially with the frequency of superhero franchise reboots these days! But doing so sets 'em up for comparison — like when we recently asked Viggle LIVE! users to name the better Joker: Jack Nicholson from 1989's Batman or Heath Ledger from 2008's The Dark Knight.

Nearly 77 percent of you Viggle users deemed Heath Ledger the better Joker, while

23 percent of you went with Jack.

The Joker role won both actors high praise and numerous nominations, but one notable difference is that Jack was nominated for five awards and Heath won a whopping 50 — including an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, and an MTV Movie Award.

(But Jack needn't worry: He is the most Oscar-nominated male actor in Academy Award history.)

Still, movie fans will always wonder if Heath disappeared too far into his role. He told reporters that he had trouble sleeping after filming the role, and a toxicology report issued after his 2008 death asserted that he died from prescription drug abuse. When journalists told Jack of Heath's passing, he said that he had "warned" Heath about the role.

Still, Heath left us with an unforgettable performance — and one that has clearly kept you captivated for years after the movie first hit theaters.
