It’s been over 16 years since Titanic premiered in theaters, yet we can still remember the first moment we saw Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio lock eyes on-screen. Their off-the-charts chemistry turned their Rose and Jack into an instantly iconic film couple that we still talk about today — and it sparked an enduring off-screen friendship between the two young stars.

Today, though they each have significant others — Leo’s neverending string of blonde 20-somethings, Kate’s third husband Ned Rocknroll — the award-winning actors remain closer than ever. In her Golden Globe acceptance speech for her role in Revolutionary Road in 2009, Kate gushingly thanked (her also co-star) Leo before she thanked her then-husband Sam Mendes.

“Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years, and your performance in this film is nothing short of spectacular,” she began, as Leo blew her a kiss from the audience. “I love you with all my heart, I really do.” Be still our hearts!

And for his part, Leo recently referred to their friendship as an “unbreakable bond.” “She’s one of my closest friends and it feels we can say anything to each other,” he divulges.

These two clearly have an undeniable connection that has stood the test of time. But could that friendship turn into something more? Are they meant to be?

That’s the question Wetpaint asked Viggle users during last night's (January 8) airing of Titanic, and it seems like an overwhelming majority came down on the same side of the issue.

In a surprising move, a whopping 75 percent of Viggle LIVE! users think that Kate and Leo are better keeping their chemistry on the big screen. Meanwhile, 25 percent are still holding out hope that these two will end up together in IRL.

This may be an example of cynics versus hopeless romantics — and count us in with with the romantics! Sure, Leo may be getting his kicks with leggy blondes these days, but some day he’ll get sick of that and realize what’s been sitting under his nose all along. Then, Kate can ditch her hubby with a fake last name (seriously!), and they can live happily ever after! OK, fine … but a girl can dream.
