Last weekend Jonah Hill took the Saturday Night Live stage for the third time and proved he’s still got it six years after making his SNL debut at the young age of 24. He shared the special evening with musical guest Bastille, which had us wondering who was the musical guest back when Jonah first gigged on the famous sketch comedy show.

The year was 2008 and rather than an English rock band singing about Pompeii, the then up-and-coming actor shared the stage with a major pop diva.

As we hinted earlier, the lucky lady was Mariah Carey, but her performance doesn’t seem to have stuck in the minds of many Viggle LIVE! users. When asked which lovely lady sang to viewers that evening, 47 percent of voters gave it to Britney Spears. Mariah received almost a third of the vote with 32 percent while Madonna claimed 21 percent.

In 2008, Jonah was just breaking into Hollywood, having had his big break in Superbad just a year earlier after working smaller roles in comedy hits like Knocked Up and Evan Almighty. But SNL obviously recognized the kind of megawatt talent Jonah would become. Wouldn’t be the first time Lorne Michaels got it right.
