The Walking Dead: Vote For Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride in EWwy, Gold Derby Awards

There's some irrelevant nonsense coming up called the Emmy Awards, but no one really cares about that. Entertainment Weekly’s EWwy Awards, on the other hand — that's the honor everyone wants. Unless they want a Gold Derby TV Award. And, as a bonus, fans decide the winners in both cases.

EW just released its drama category nominees for the 2014 EWwys, including two stars of The Walking Dead: Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) for Best Supporting Actor and Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier) for Best Supporting Actress. Not only that — Melissa was also nominated for a Gold Derby TV Award.

Here’s Melissa’s Gold Derby competition for Best Drama Supporting Actress:

Christine Baranski, The Good Wife

Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones

Anna Gunn, Breaking Bad

Lena Headey, Game of Thrones

Bellamy Young, Scandal

Head to Gold Derby to vote through August 15, with winners announced Wednesday, August 20.

Meanwhile, here’s EW’s write-up for Norman:

Norman Reedus, Best Supporting Actor

“A man of few words and (thanks to his handy crossbow) a straight shooter, Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon has been a lone-wolf character—a badass you envy rather than empathize with—for most of The Walking Dead's run. Several episodes in the back half of season 4 finally filled in details about Daryl's past while setting a course for his future on the show. With Daryl emerging as a leader, we also saw Reedus' formidable acting skills on display. We knew about his hard-shelled physicality before, but now Reedus proved that Daryl's moral code is just as solid.”

Here’s his EWwy competition:

Charles Dance, Game of Thrones

Jordan Gavaris, Orphan Black

Sam Jaeger, Parenthood

Peter Sarsgaard, The Killing

John Slattery, Mad Men

Vote for Norman here.

Here’s EW’s write-up for Melissa:

Melissa McBride, Best Supporting Actress

“Carol should have been zombie food before season 2 arrived. Instead, she has evolved from a two-dimensional abused wife to one of The Walking Dead's most compelling characters. And Melissa McBride's performance is no small part of that evolution, tapping into unexpected reserves of strength and compassion. Most notably, the gut-punching scene from ''The Grove'' when Carol—a nurturer, even at her most pragmatic—had to make the hardest decision of her life and turn a gun on her mentally unstable adopted daughter Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino).”

Here’s her EWwy Award competition:

Erika Christensen, Parenthood

Sandra Oh, Grey's Anatomy

Maggie Siff, Sons of Anarchy

Maisie Williams, Game of Thrones

Bellamy Young, Scandal

Vote for Melissa here.

Good luck to the nominees! You may not get a fancy trophy or a televised speech, but it’s always nice to be recognized — especially by the fans.

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres Sunday, October 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
