The Walking Dead Season 6 midseason finale left us with several unanswered questions. So when Wetpaint spoke with TWD cast members Alanna Masterson, Josh McDermitt, Christian Serratos, and EP Tom Luse at SCAD's aTVfest in Atlanta on February 5, we asked what’s next for their characters.

As an added bonus, the quartet also gave us a (vague) Negan tease and opened up about April’s Season 6 finale!

EXCLUSIVE: TWD Cast Teases Midseason Premiere

“We’re kind of watching Eugene build to a point of, ‘Are you going to step up or not?’ It’s time,” Josh said when asked if his on-screen counterpart will up his game as newer, fiercer threats approach. “This has been beaten into Eugene for a long time now and it’s time for him to put up or shut up.”

“I certainly hope he does something,” Josh added.

Rosita Espinosa wasn’t featured much in the first half of Season 6, but Christian told us she’d love for viewers to see more of her character’s past. “It’d be cool to see where she comes from,” the 25-year-old said.

“I have theories, I have ideas — I researched the comic books and heard what Scott Gimple had to tell me,” she added. “I use things but I think I’m going to keep those mine for as long as I can. When it comes out, it will.”

The cast couldn’t get into specifics regarding Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character, Negan — “Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a great actor. I’m a fan of his work,” was all Josh offered up Tom, however, did get a bit more specific when asked about the finale, which will be Negan’s debut episode.

“We build to something new in the second half of the season. I think it really is opening up to something brand new,” the EP said of the new villain. “It’ll be really exciting to our fans as it’s something they haven’t seen before and never expected. It’s a really interesting twist.”

As much as we hate to wish away the season, we’re reluctantly eager to see how Negan will fit in (or more likely not fit in) with our group and find out more about this “interesting twist” Tom mentioned.

The Walking Dead Season 6 midseason premiere airs Sunday, February 14, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
