‘Walking Dead’ Season 6 Spoilers: Morgan’s Backstory Will Be Revealed

Morgan Jones (Lennie James) was reunited with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the finale of Walking Dead Season 5, but what was the character doing in between going crazy in Season 3’s “Clear”and the Season 5 ender? Lennie James offers up some theories.

When asked at Comic Con what Morgan’s been up to during the time he was MIA, Lennie joked his small screen counterpart was “painting” and “getting to know himself.”

On a more serious note, Lennie revealed that “we may find out this season what Morgan’s been doing with himself. One of the things he’s been doing is trying to find Rick, and at the end of last season he finds him and wished that he hadn’t.”

TWD Season 6 teaser art and the mega-trailer seem to be hinting at conflict between onetime pals Morgan and Rick, but Lennie warns viewers not to jump to any drastic conclusions just yet. “I can tell you that a lot of the trailer isn't necessarily literal," he told Access Hollywood on the red carpet at the Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con party on July 11. "So it's about the themes and the theme that Morgan brings to Alexandria and the theme of the ethos that Morgan has, which is that all of life is precious and he's no longer gonna kill people any more.”

“But when he arrives, the man he thinks he's gonna join up with is putting a bullet in somebody's head,” Lennie adds, referring to how Morgan saw Rick again just as his old pal was killing Pete. “So the themes that those two men are carrying are going to run through this season.” Got all that?

NEWS: Is Walking Dead’s Morgan Doomed?

While, as we said, we are being primed to think Morgan and Rick will be in conflict, we’re now somewhat convinced Rick will butt heads with Ethan Embry’s character, who is likely playing a version of Nicholas from the TWD comics.

Either way, TWD Season 6 is shaping up to be good!

The Walking Dead Season 6 premieres with a 90-minute episode on October 11 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
