‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Who’s Playing Jesus?
Brace yourselves Walking Dead comic fans! A pivotal character from the books has just been cast and it could mean big things for the future of the show.
The Walking Dead Season 6 doesn’t air until October 11, but the cast is still hard at work filming the season in and around Atlanta for at least another month or so. That’s how we know Luck actor Tom Payne has been enlisted to play Jesus.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Tom’s Jesus (aka Paul Monroe) gig will recur in the second half of Season 6 with the option to extend into Season 7.
Jesus, a resident of the Hilltop Colony who later moves to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, was first introduced in issue 91 of the comics and is still alive in that medium.
Rick Grimes, aka Andrew Lincoln, and his crew are reluctant to trust Jesus at first, but he eventually becomes a key member of the group in the comics ahead of the war against The Saviors and Negan.
The character is a “rare logical man and skilled adviser with a strong sense of morals and values who is well-adapted to the new world.”

Jesus is a well-liked comic book character, but his arrival does proceed that of mega-villain Negan, which is not good news.
But given that we knew the Hilltop Colony would be a featured locale this season, Jesus’s arrival doesn’t exactly come as a shock.
