When in doubt, do a time-jump.

At The Walking Dead panel at Comic-Con, the audience got their first taste of Season 8.

A five-minute trailer was shown and even ended with a short preview of an older Rick Grimes.

Executive producer Robert Kirkman said during the panel that the show will be moving toward the end of The Walking Dead comics.

"It's easy to see and safe to report that this season will be very action packed and move at a very fast pace," he said.

Time-jumps are often used in TV shows when a storyline starts to get exhausted, according to CBR.com.

"The jump forward in time would allow the show to reset the characters somewhat and perhaps lure back lapsed viewers who grew tired of the survivors’ struggles, it could act as a relaunch of The Walking Dead, similar to how comic books themselves often have a jumping on point."

Before the trailer reveal, the producers began the panel by paying tribute to stuntman John Bernecker who died on the show's set on July 14.

"John passed away this week after he was injured doing something he loved...helping tell stories that excite, entertain and give people escape," executive producer Scott Gimple said.

"He helped make movies and shows for people like everybody in this room. John was someone beloved in the stunt community, someone who trained other people and helped them break into the business. He was living his dream, and he helped other people do the same thing."

The panel almost didn't happen, as the cast and crew wasn't sure if it would be appropriate following John's death.

"We wanted to be here for you and we wanted to tell you about John and we wanted show you what we've all been working on," Scott said.

Fans are already appropriately freaking out about the new trailer and the teaser at an older Rick Grimes.

Mind-blown seems to be the general feeling as tweets come in about the new season sneak peek.

The Walking Dead returns for Season 8 on Sunday, October 22.
