We’ve been praising Andrew Lincoln’s (Rick Grimes) performance on The Walking Dead for a few years now, and finally the critics are beginning to take note as well. The police officer-turned-zombie killer is one of our favorite protagonists on TV, and we’re happy he’s getting some recognition. Better late than never!

The Critics’ Choice Award nominations were announced today, May 22, and Andrew nabbed a coveted nom in the Best Actor in a Drama Series category — his first ever nomination. He’s up against Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, Homeland’s Damian Lewis, Justified’s Timothy Olyphant, Matthew Rhys from The Americans, and Kevin Spacey from House of Cards.

And while those fellas represent some pretty stiff competition, we think Andrew has a good shot at taking home the award. The Walking Dead Season 3 not only showed off some of Andrew’s best work, but really solidified the show’s standing as a critic and fan darling alike. Did you see that epic season finale?!

The winners will be announced Monday, June 10 in an event hosted by Parks and Recreation’s Retta. We’ll be crossing our fingers for Rick Grimes!

Do you think Andrew will nab the award? Weigh in below and then check out the full list of nominees.
