Remember how walkers became afterthoughts for a good chunk of The Walking Dead Season 3? That’s not gonna happen in Season 4.

“The Walking Dead” has always referred to the human survivors, but this is the zombie apocalypse and it requires zombies to separate themselves from the other dark dramas out there. A while back, producer Gale Anne Hurd told Comic Book Resources the first eight episodes of Season 4 will remind us of the danger of zombies. "We are going to amp up the threat of the walkers, because they've started to seem like a manageable threat. They are not a manageable threat."

On that note, TWD’s props master John Sanders talked to AMC about some new weapons fans can look forward to on Season 4, and how they will be used to fight walkers. “My favorite implement will be this season,” John said. “I've been waiting for two years, trying to talk to [producer/special effects make-up designer] Greg Nicotero about doing this to a walker, and he saw it this year and just jumped on it. I can't really tell you what it is, but I can tell you it's going to be the craziest thing on the show, yet. What I can say is that walkers are going to get killed in newer ways this year than any other year before.”

There’s nothing like a fresh walker kill to get us excited for fall! As we wait for October, why not re-watch this video from December 2012, lovingly documenting all the Season 3 walker kills up to that point. The back half of last season slowed down a bit, but Season 4 will still have a lot to live up to.
