Sometimes it felt like poor Laurie Holden was forced to play Dumb and Dumber when sticking with The Governor on The Walking Dead Season 3. At least now she has an excuse — according to Deadline, Laurie landed a lead role opposite Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in the movie’s sequel, Dumb and Dumber To.

The first Dumb and Dumber movie came out in 1994, and this will pick up 20 years later.  (Twenty years! Can you believe that?) It doesn't sound like Laurie’s character will be as naive as Andrea turned out to be; in fact, the actress may get to play someone more like The Governor this time around. Deadline says she’ll play Adele Pichlow, " the well to do wife of a doctor who is up to no good and who plans to use Harry [Jeff] and Lloyd [Jim] to cover her tracks."

Sounds promising. It’s good to see Laurie back in the mix, considering the general disappointment at her Walking Dead storyline. Laurie recently aired some of her Season 3 grievances at Fan Expo Canada.

"I wish I could have been a writer on the show because it would have been very different. The Governor would be dead by now,” Laurie said. “[The] writers have creative license and they do things to keep it interesting. I loved every moment working on that show, I loved the character of Andrea. I wish that I had been like in the comics and been able to end up with Rick in the end and to have been that killer sharpshooter. But I don't write the stuff and it was someone’s decision to go that direction and you just do the best job you can. It's just a different medium. You just embrace what they write."

Never going to stop agreeing with that. But congrats to Laurie on the new film role! We’re looking forward to seeing her again.
