Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) is one of the most beloved characters on television, but since he’s not a part of the original Walking Dead comics, his future on the hit AMC show is unknown. We know that The Powers That Be love to kill off key characters no matter how many people like them, and Daryl may not be an exception.
In fact, comic book creator and TV writer Robert Kirkman has even said he’s gotten threats from Daryl fans saying that they will riot if the motorcycle-riding member of Team Prison is killed off. While Robert has previously said this intense devotion has only made him want to kill Daryl more, we sincerely hope the Daryl's not going anywhere.
Still, even Norman Reedus is realistic about his on-screen persona’s fate. When a reporter from Entertainment Weekly referred to the last-standing Dixon brother (RIP, Merle) as “untouchable”during an interview, Norman got a bit paranoid, saying,“Ah, don’t say that. Knock on wood. Knock on some piece of wood somewhere.”
Of course, Norman was grateful for the support from fans. When the death riots were mentioned, Norman said he would even march alongside Daryl devotees should his character kick the bucket. “I will lead that riot!”, he began. “It’s a fun job, and I think people relate to different characters for different reasons, but never say never. I hate to even think like that, to be honest.”
If Robert knows what’s good for him he won’t touch Daryl, but then again, killing the fan-fave would be a bold move.
