After months and months of waiting, we finally got to see the Season 4 premiere of The Walking Dead tonight, October 13.The episode delivered much of what was promised — farmer Rick, creepy Carl, Maggie and Glenn moments etc. — but it took about 30 minutes for the action to really pick up.

Yes the walkers were numerous and gross, but it’s clear everyone felt safe in the prison, perhaps too safe. It wasn’t until Daryl Dixon led a supply run to a local store that things got dicey. When newbie Bob Stookey reached for a bottle of booze, the entire shelf fell to the floor and alerted dozens of walkers from the roof above, who fell from the ceiling onto our crew.

We said goodbye to several people, although we didn’t lose anyone we were necessarily attached to. Overall, the Season 4 premiere was a bit slower than we expected but the shocking twist of a new illness and threat at the end means we’ll most certainly be watching Season 4, Episode 2: “Infected”.
