SciFiNow in the U.K. shared a new poster for The Walking Dead Season 4, showing a giant closeup of a sick pig. The eyes are purple and bruised and one has pus flowing out, the mouth is bloody, and ... yep, it looks like a zombie pig.
The hashtag at the bottom reads #BITEME, so is this some sick teaser for Episode 2, "Infected"? We know Rick's pig was sick with this new Spanish flu type disease in the premiere, and then poor Patrick got sick and turned by the end of the episode. We’ll see the aftermath of Patrick’s death this Sunday, October 20 as Team Prison faces the new threat.
Are animals now going to bite people, like they actually turn from this illness, or did whoever make this poster just want to bring the disease point home with an arresting image? It certainly gets our attention.
Is this meant to suggest the sick pig is connected to the source of the illness, like that pig/bat mix in Contagion? If that’s the case, how did that walker outside the fence have bloody eyes, just like Patrick, who was suffering from the same thing? What connects the pig, that walker, and Patrick — and how is it that Rick and Daryl aren’t infected (yet) since Rick spends most of his time with his pigs and Daryl shook hands with Patrick? Was Daryl just a carrier? Are some people immune to this thing?
