UPDATE: Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) is struggling through Episode 5: "Internment". After Hershel found her passed out because of dehydration we thought for sure she was a goner (especially since Daryl and company hadn't yet returned with any medicine) but she's still alive so far. The same can't be said for Dr. S and several others.
Could The Walking Dead be so cruel as to kill off both Karen (Melissa Ponzio) and Sasha in the first few episodes of Season 4? It would devastate Tyreese (Chad Coleman), but also us as fans — we already love Sasha!
It doesn’t seem right to kill off two strong women for the sake of Tyreese’s storyline, so maybe Sasha won’t die. Maybe she can survive this thing. In the sneak peek she looks pretty bad, but the promo also shows Glenn (Steven Yeun) telling Hershel (Scott Wilson) "we can do something, we can fight." Maggie (Lauren Cohan) also tells her father she can’t let him do whatever he’s planning, and Hershel replies, “You don't have a choice. You breathe and you risk your life. The only thing you can choose is what you're risking it for."
So it may be that we should be more worried about Hershel dying (as we always are). Does he find a way to sacrifice himself for Sasha and the others? Not sure how that would work, but it would be great to find a way to keep Sasha alive. Not that we want Hershel to go, but he’s not a kill-or-be-killed kinda guy; he’s more like a live-or-sacrifice-so-others-can-live guy.
Since Sasha isn’t even in the comic books, we have no reference for what might happen to her. Tyreese does have a daughter in the comics and when she dies he rages in anger and grief, but since Karen is already dead, we figured maybe she was subbing for that lost love. Maybe Sasha has to go too, but we’re holding out hope that The Powers That Be wouldn’t tease her illness in a promo just to kill her off in the next episode. They must have a trick up their sleeves, right?
