Gorgeous 29-year-old Alabama native Sonequa Martin-Green has been working her way up the ranks in all of our favorite shows, but she's such an amazing actress that you might not have even noticed. And despite not getting a ton of attention just yet, we're really hoping she sticks around The Walking Dead for a while — and with her new title of series regular, we're hopeful we haven't seen the last of this mama-to-be.
She originally wanted to be a psychologist: In an interview with Zora & Alice, Sonequa revealed that much like co-star Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee), she started out with a plan to study psychology. Unlike Steven, she figured out she wanted to act instead while in the tenth grade.
She was her high school salutatorian: That's one step below valedictorian, if you're counting.
She stars on Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead at the same time: There are so many reasons to love Sonequa — one of the biggest being that she stars on two of Wetpaint's favorite shows! OnOUaT, Sonequa played Tamara, a very mysterious, but very human, character with possibly devious intentions. As a bonus, she also guest starred on a 2011 episode of Gossip Girl.
Her favorite TWD character is Hershel Greene: Sonequa told Zap2It that her favorite character is Hershel (Scott Wilson), but she does tell fans to keep an eye on Alanna Masterson's character, too. We’ll forgive her for not picking Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus).
Sorry, gentlemen (and ladies), she’s taken! She's married to fellow actor Kenric Green. Appropriately, these two theater lovebirds met while auditioning for a play! While Kenric's IMDb profile is significantly more sparse than Sonequa's, he appears to be very active in theater. He even played Stanley in a traveling stage production of A Streetcar Named Desire!
