The Walking Dead Season 4 plot thickens!

Six episodes have now come and gone, which means we're halfway through the first half of the season. And now we have details on Episodes 5-8, with Episode 8 being the December 1 mid-season finale, airing tonight. That’s the last episode until February 2014, when Episode 9 launches the last eight episodes of the season.

Episode 5 — Internment (airs Sunday, November 10 at 9 p.m. ET)

"Assorted enemies pressure Rick and the group; the survivors and the prison may reach a breaking point."

Thoughts: Assorted enemies? More than The Ricktator vs. Killer Carol, and Bob's Drinking Problem vs. Pookie Dixon, and The Sickness vs. Everyone? Should we expect The Governor (David Morrissey) to make an appearance, with or without perhaps having a spy or two on the inside?

Episode 6 — Live Bait (November 17 at 9 p.m. ET))

"Group members struggle to find their humanity while being constantly threatened."

Thoughts: This synopsis is so deliberately vague — it doesn’t even mention Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) or the prison — that we have to view it as a supporting argument for our theory that this one of the standalone Governor episodes. We know two episodes will feature The Gov, including flashbacks of where he's been. When we saw a casting notice for this episode, a while back, it was titled "Rise," which made us think of the graphic novel Rise of The Governor, which tells more of The Gov's backstory and features characters we suspect we'll see on TV. More on that here.

Episode 7 — Dead Weight (November 24 at 9 p.m. ET))

"Something new unfolds at a camp outside the prison; the addition of new members may threaten peace."

Thoughts: Still guessing this is the second of the two Governor-centric episodes. Is he in a camp outside the prison? If this is not even a prison episode, maybe the peace at this particular camp is threatened because The Governor arrives? There was a casting notice for this episode a while ago, saying they were looking for two brothers around age 30. We'll have to see what that means when the episode airs.

Episode 8 — Too Far Gone (December 1)

"After things begin to calm at the prison, Rick and the group face imminent danger."

Thoughts: We've already heard so much about this mid-season finale episode, including Andrew Lincoln's note that it's "the biggest thing we've attempted, I think, so far in our show." He said it's "an incredibly exciting episode" and he hinted to a lot of special effects and dynamite. He also said it included a "painful" scene for him to do, so expect some tragedy.

We're still guessing this episode includes a major attack on the prison, led by The Governor and whoever may be on his side. This would leave the prison group in a precarious position as we wait to see what they do in Episode 9. They may decide to leave the prison for good and hit the road. We shall see!

Are you excited for what’s to come? Which episode has you most curious?
