The cast of The Walking Dead is still busy filming the final eight episodes of Season 4 in the backwoods of Georgia, but next weekend, many of the AMC hit’s stars will be on hand for Walker Stalker Con, a fan-run convention in Atlanta that brings together TWD fans and other comic book aficionados.
The convention is scheduled to take place at Atlanta’s AmericasMart Convention Center on November 1-3, and will be loaded with celebrity appearances, special panels, vendors, and more. For any fan of The Walking Dead, this is the place to be next weekend, especially considering that 16 cast members from the popular show will be on hand to meet and greet fans!
Both Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) have been confirmed for the event, and we’d hazard a guess and say that many other key cast members will be on hand as well. There are different levels of tickets for this three-day event, but top tier tix sound well worth it since those ticket holders are granted access to the Andrew/Norman line and are guaranteed autographs from the two studly actors. Um, who wants to bankroll our flight to Atlanta?!
Walker Stalker podcast co-host Eric Nordhoff, who is responsible for organizing the con along with his co-host James Frazier, is eager for next weekend’s events.
“It’s going to be an amazing time, especially if you’re a Walking Dead fan,” he tells local paper Times-Herald. The podcast launched less than a year ago, but given the level of devotion TWD fans have, it didn’t take long for it to take off. After the Season 3 finale last April, the idea for Walker Stalker Con was born.
Through funds from kickstarter, Eric and James were able to secure guests like Norman and Andrew. The event is entirely fan-funded, but Eric notes that they have gotten especially lucky because the Walking Dead cast is particularly generous with their time and appreciative of their many, many fans.
“The cast & crew from The Walking Dead are some of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. They’re amazing,” Eric explained “The fans have been very supportive and it’s taken a lot of good word of mouth from them to get us to this point.”
