Because Team Prison isn’t being tortured enough on The Walking Dead Season 4, we still have to worry about The Governor (David Morrissey). Three episodes have gone by, giving us a major sickness, huge herds, Carol Peletier’s (Melissa McBride) killer secret, and the ongoing mystery of who is feeding the hungry walkers at the fence (and why).

Through it all, Michonne (Danai Gurira) has still been going out to try and find The Governor.

“He could attack at any moment,” writer/executive producer Robert Kirkman warned to the L.A. Times. We know we’re going to see The Gov again, and he’ll have a couple of “standalone” episodes with flashbacks showing us where he’s been. We’re expecting to see those pretty soon. Then again, maybe we should stop expecting anything, since the writers are going out of their way (Carol?!) to surprise us.

When asked what’s ahead in Season 4, Robert answered, “Awesome stuff. The unexpected. I think the coolest thing about this season is that there are so many twists and turns along the way that you can’t really figure out what story we’re telling until the story’s told. Every time there’s something introduced this season and you go, Oh, I get it, that’s what this season is about, you’re wrong, and I think that’s really cool. When it’s all said and done and all 16 episodes are completed, you’re going to see a cool tapestry that comes together to tell a pretty involved, pretty cool story. We’re going to be throwing some wrenches in the works as we go along.”

So cool, awesome stuff is ahead and we won’t be able to see it coming. Does that make you more excited or more nervous? What wrenches are they going to throw into the mix next?

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
