It's hard to guess what might be to come for Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) on The Walking Dead Season 4. He's a character from the comic books, but not only is he somewhat different in the TV version, we don't even know what happened to Bob in the comics.

Comic book/graphic novel Bob came to Woodbury with a group, and became the town drunk. But he ultimately ended up saving The Governor’s (David Morrissey) life after Michonne (Danai Gurira) tortured him. The Governor himself is killed during a later assault on the prison, and the books don’t make it clear what happened to Bob.

The TV version of Bob is a former Army medic who may have issues with alcohol, as in the comics. After that, the paths don't match up too well — unless they do later, if it turns out he is connected to The Gov.

Our Bob joined the prison about a week before the events of Season 4 picked up, which is also a week before all hell broke loose. Coincidence?

Larry Gilliard Jr. told The Hollywood Reporter Bob will talk about where he comes from and what he was up to before Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) found him. "I will say he was part of another group before he met up with Daryl and [the group at the prison] and before he was solo. I can't say much all I can say is he ended up solo."

Maybe he was with The Gov's group in a camp outside the prison? Hmm. Larry added, "At the heart of Bob, he's a good person, but he's battling demons and sometimes the demons get the best of you. That's another thing that I like about the character, and what I get to do as an actor is to portray someone who is battling things and show his human side, because no one is born bad."

But does Bob become bad? Right now, as we approach Episode 4, "Indifference," Bob is out on a supply run with Tyreese (Chad Coleman), Daryl, and Michonne. It's already off to a rocky start and they lost the car. How they're going to reach this veterinary school and return the 50-odd miles back to the prison remains a mystery. Maybe they find a magic carpet or meet nice humans who give them a lift, or maybe they hotwire a new car that happens to have gas. We'll find out.

Does Bob make it through the season alive? Your guess is as good as ours. It feels like we're working up to a big clash with The Governor and we don't know where Bob will stand with that. Maybe he'll fight and die with Team Prison. Maybe he'll live and travel with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and company, if/when they hit the road for new ground. Maybe he'll switch sides and fight with The Gov. Maybe he'll run. It's a total mystery.

It doesn't seem like Bob is leaving us anytime soon, since there's so much to explore with this guy. We need to hear more about his past and this mysterious group he was with. What happened? Who is Bob now, and how much can he be trusted? For all we know, Bob will become a loyal team player and we'll see him alongside Daryl and company into Season 5 and beyond.
