We were first introduced to Lizzie Samuels and Mika Samuels on a low note — just their father, Ryan Samuels, getting bitten by a walker. But that fictional loss is our real-life gain! After Ryan willed his adorable daughters to Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride), we got to see a lot more of the girls — including the actress behind Lizzie, Brighton Sharbino. The 11-year-old Flower Mound, Texas native has grown rapidly into one of Season 4's most interesting new characters, and in Season 4, Episode 5, "Internment," we learned that her demure, blond exterior is hiding some balls of steel.

Here are four things you might not have known about Brighton!

She Played Young Abby on NCIS. You know Abby Sciuto, the hippest forensic scientist to ever hit the small screen? When the series delved into her past on the Season 10 episode "Hit and Run," Brighton played 10-year-old Abby. TVLine noted that she spent a lot of time with Pauley Perrette, who normally plays Abby, to pick up "mannerisms and such."

She was received well among fans! Bri's Twitter is full of fan-made collages like this one. To get her hair dark for the role, Bri used a temporary rinse.

She Has an Acting Family. Her big sister, 14-year-old Saxon Sharbino, was a series regular on the Fox drama Touch  — she was cast after starring in a pilot that didn't make it to series. Their little brother, Sawyer, has been in a couple of short films. The two sisters starred together in the 2010 straight-to-video comedy Cool Dog.

She Used to be Scared of Zombies. On November 10's The Talking Dead, we learned that Brighton used to be scared of zombies because a friend convinced her they were real. TWD has apparently helped her face that fear; she now dreams about playing hide-and-seek with them.

Her First TV Role Was on Friday Night Lights. Brighton had a really small role on FNL — an uncredited "emotional fan" — but we think it speaks wonders that her first on-screen appearance was on such a critically acclaimed, iconic series.

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on AMC.
