In the final moments of The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 6: “Live Bait”, The Governor (David Morrissey) and his new “daughter,” Meghan, fell into a ditch that was previously reserved for walker’s bodies (a ditch The Governor likely ordered the creation of) and nearly died.
Luckily, The Gov. is still a skilled walker-killer, and he managed to take out the various undead beings already inhabiting the ditch before they could harm him or Meghan. When all was said and done, The Governor and Meghan were alone in the ditch, and a third party was standing above them. Unfortunately for The Gov., that man is Martinez, his former henchmen from Woodbury who knows all of his secrets.
As we saw at the end of Episode 6, Martinez was surprised to see The Governor, and the new sneak peek below — which first debuted during Talking Dead on November 17 — shows just how shocked he is.
In the clip, Martinez quickly helps little Meghan out of the ditch, taking her from The Governor’s arms so she can run back to Tara and Lily, but he doesn’t extend a hand to his former leader. We know that The Gov. eventually makes it out of the hole, but it’s clear that Martinez wants everyone to know that he’s the boss now. In the other promo he declares, “I’m in charge. No dead weight.”
Do you think Martinez will reveal The Governor’s true identity to Lily, Tara, and Meghan? Weigh in below!
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
