All throughout the first half of Season 4 of The Walking Dead we’ve had at least one unanswered question on our minds: who is feeding rats to the walkers directly outside the prison fence, thus luring even more of the undead towards Team Prison’s home?

This charade has been going on since the season opener, but despite a few hints and references to it here and there we’re really no closer to finding out the identity of the walker feeder now than we were seven weeks ago.

We’ve had theories that it was Lizzie Samuels giving the walkers a snack (she does seem to have an odd fondness for them) but we’ve also speculated that Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) could be giving the walkers rats as part of some type of plan he has going on with The Governor (David Morrissey).

Speaking of The Gov., TWD has focused solely on him for the past two weeks and neglected Team Prison, but that doesn’t mean the rat/walker mystery has been forgotten. When a writer for The Hollywood Reporter asked TWD showrunner Scott Gimple if we will find out the identity of the rat pusher in the mid-season finale airing December 1, Scott said, “It will absolutely be answered, but I'm not going to tell you if it's in the season finale.”

Somewhat satisfying and vague all at once, just the way we like it!

We have a feeling Team Prison will be more occupied with trying to defend their home from The Governor’s newly acquired tank instead of trying to figure out who is feeding the walkers, but if everything is tied together and Bob (or someone else!) is working for one-eyed Bri, then we suppose we could find out who the walker feeder is as early as next week  .

Do you have any updated theories on who is feeding the walkers at the fence? If so, feel free to share them below!

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
