It’s The Walking Dead Season 4 mid-season finale, so we were prepared to say goodbye to several characters. The Governor (David Morrissey) kidnapped Hershel (Scott Wilson) and Michonne, (Danai Gurira) right off the bat, but they both lived through the first 30 minutes or so.

The first fatality of the night was none other than Meghan Chambler (Meyrick Murphy). She was once again playing alone and encountered a walker, who dug his way up from underneath the soil where she was sitting and bit her. When Lily brought her lifeless daughter to The Gov., he took her in his arms and shot her, something he never could have done with Penny.

Unfortunately, Hershel was the next to go. The Gov. had given Team Prison a sundown deadline to vacate the property, and though Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) made an impassioned speech about how both sides could coexist, “Brian” didn’t buy it, and decapitated Hershel in front of everyone, starting a war.

Then, all hell broke loose. By the end of the hour, Baby Judith was presumed dead, leaving a bloody car seat in her wake. The Gov. was also a goner. Although Michonne sliced him with her katana, Lily finished him off, shooting him in the episode’s final seconds. Alisha also passed, thanks to a good shot from child soldier Lizzie. Lastly, Daryl  gave Mitch an arrow right to the heart.

Beth, Sasha, Bob, Michonne, Tyreese, and Daryl all missed the bus out of the prison, but we have a feeling they will all make it to the back eight episodes.

Are you crying right now, because we can’t seem to keep it together…

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns in February 2014.
