We haven’t seen Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) since Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) banished her from the group in Season 4, Episode 4: “Indifference”, and although we were actually glad she didn’t show her face in the mid-season finale (so much carnage!) we know that she’s out there fending for herself and we’re worried about her, especially now that Team Prison has moved on from their once secure home.

Scott Gimple has confirmed that we will see Carol again, but will the knife-wielding gal grace us with her presence in the final eight episodes of Season 4, or will her absence stretch into Season 5 next year? In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Scott reveals, “She's going to appear sooner or later, but I can't say much.”

Scott then refers us to another character who came and went, Daryl’s brother, Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker). “There is a bit of time from when we saw Merle on the roof in Atlanta and when he rejoined the story. It could be a bit but could be a long bit, but she will return at some point. We might have flying cars at that point, but she will return.”

We certainly hope that cars haven’t started to fly by the time Carol comes back, especially since Lizzie and Mika will need her now more than ever, but we trust Scott Gimple to bring her back when the time is right.

Do you think we will see Carol again sometime in Season 4, or will we have to wait until Season 5 debuts in the fall of 2014? Tell us your thoughts and theories below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 resumes on February 9, 2014, at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
