We were big fans of the first eight episodes of The Walking Dead Season 4, but by all accounts it seems like the back eight episodes of this season, which begin with the mid-season premiere on February 9, 2014, are even stronger.

During the episode of Talking Dead directly following Sunday’s finale, we got a few tidbits about what we can expect in 2014. As usual, the info we got was purposefully vague, but still has us pretty psyched nonetheless.

Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) called the final eight, “the boldest, bravest and most exciting this show has ever attempted,” and executive producer/comic book creator creator Robert Kirkman agreed, calling the second half of Season 4 “very intense”.

With the former Team Prison now scattered in several different directions, it will be interesting to see when and if everyone is able to come back together again. We’ll certainly be getting several different stories from various groups that were previously a part of Team Prison, and Scott Gimple even hinted that more flashbacks could be on the way as well.

“Not only have these people lost Hershel, they lost the prison, but they also lost each other,” Robert went on to say. “They’re out on their own, they’re in different groups. There’s going to be a lot going on with these different people as they try to survive in the next half of the season.”

The back eight episodes are expected to pick up more or less right where we left off at the end of Episode 8, and of course we can expect that the various factions of Team Prison, wherever they may be, will still be struggling to come to terms with Hershel Greene’s (Scott Wilson) terrible death.

We don’t even want to think about the life of lives that could be lost in the second half of the season!

Do you think the last eight episodes of Season 4 can top the first half? Tell us your thoughts below!
