People die all the time on The Walking Dead, but sometimes they take the title literally and walk back onto the show.

Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) had visions of the late Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and Shane (Jon Bernthal) in Season 3 ... and maybe the Greene girls could have flashback memories of their dad, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) in Season 4?

Zap2it asked producer Gale Anne Hurd if we’ll ever see Hershel again, after his death in Episode 8, the mid-season finale. "I'm hoping," Gale said. "We do [flashbacks] rarely, but we have done it from time to time."

They would need to justify the flashback time, but for a major character like Hershel it would make sense. As Gale also said in the same interview, “Hershel really was the one character whose death will resonate the most with everyone. There's no one who didn't like Hershel. He had no enemies. He could be relied upon. Obviously his two daughters are bereft. He had a strong relationship not only with Rick and Carl but also with Glenn.”

Any of them could have flashbacks to Hershel’s wisdom or caution to inform their actions out there in the rest of Season 4, and maybe beyond.

Scott Wilson made it clear he wishes he was still on the show, so it would probably be easy to call him up and ask him to come back for some new flashback material.

Would you like that idea, if they decided to do Hershel flashback scenes, or do you prefer when the departed are put to rest and allowed to stay there? Vote below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9, 2014 on AMC.
