Good news! At least a few of the loose ends dangling in the first half of The Walking Dead Season 4 will be addressed in the second half.

Episode 9 will air on February 9, 2014, marking the start of the next eight episodes. TV Guide asked comic book writer/executive producer Robert Kirkman for some back-half teases and he told them:

1. “Carol will definitely return before the end of the season.”

2. “The Sanctuary, which was discussed in that radio message, will come into play.”

3. “Via flashbacks, there will be glimpses into the lives of our favorite characters, likely including Michonne” to potentially explore her past as a mother.

The last time we saw Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) was in Episode 4, “Indifference” when she got in her car (Rick Grimes took the good one) and went somewhere.

Do you think she turned on the radio, heard about The Sanctuary and found it, or is The Sanctuary tease connected to other characters? Will Carol connect with Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) and Mika Samuels (Kyla Kenedy), who should actually be with Tyreese (Chad Coleman)? Lizzie saved him by shooting Alisha, and Carol was responsible for getting Lizzie to that toughened zone, for better or worse.

The flashbacks note is also intriguing, for Michonne and others. She hasn’t revealed much about her past, but that scene when she held baby Judith was one of the most heartbreaking moments of the season. Do you think she’s the one who saved Judith after the prison battle? Who else will get flashbacks — maybe Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.), or siblings Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Tyreese?

Are you now even more curious about Carol, the flashbacks, and this Sanctuary? It feels like the second half of the season is wide open to go in any number of directions. It should be fun (and unnerving) to see it play out!

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
