Can you imagine if we’re still not done with The Governor (David Morrissey) on The Walking Dead Season 4?

Philip/Brian/One-Eye Bri was sliced through the middle by Michonne (Danai Gurira), then shot in the head by Lilly (Audrey Marie Anderson). But could he return anyway, via flashbacks or something?

David Morrissey talked to Press Association about his character, and he left the door open for a return to the show. "Something happened to him,” David said. “I feel like a shady politician where I can't confirm and I can't deny anything. Certainly, bad things befell him at the end of the last episode but we just have to wait and see..."

He’s such a tease! The Governor is dead. Dead dead. We don’t need to go down that Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) path again, where some fans said she could still be alive because we didn’t see Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) shoot her early in Season 3. He did shoot her. She did die. This guy is dead too. But maybe David is playing coy because we see The Gov. in a flashback, or just revisit the battlefield early in the second half of Season 4, so technically he appears again? Or maybe he’s just toying with us?

David has repeated how much he loves being on the show. He even said he hoped The Governor lived to see Season 5 — and he said that after he had filmed the Episode 8 midseason finale, knowing his character was killed off. He’s just very good at stringing us along, which is fitting for a guy playing a charmer like The Governor.

Would you want to see The Gov. again, either in a flashback to when he was whole, or just seeing his head in the prison yard? Or do you hope he’s just teasing?

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
