Long live The Ricktator!
To win the cable award, TWD beat Downton Abbey, Pretty Little Liars, Sons of Anarchy, and White Collar. To win anti-hero, Rick/Andy beat Dexter’s Dexter Morgan, Game of Thrones’ Jaime Lannister, Bates Motel’s Norman Bates, and Breaking Bad’s Walter White. That’s right — this is not a democracy, Mr. Tread Lightly!
Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) was at the PCAs to present an award, but he didn't get to accept TWD's trophies during the televised broadcast. (The People's Choice Awards can be weird like that sometimes.)
However, Norman held the cable drama trophy on the red carpet when thanking voters for the win. "Thank you guys for giving us this award,” he said (watch video below). “It's awesome."
Norman was asked about his connection to his own fans, who are known to be uber-passionate. "I'm in communication with them all the time," Norman said. "I feel like it's our show. I don't feel like it's, you know, their show, or — AMC is very good with that. They present themselves to the fans and the fans interact. So I feel like it's ours."
One of Norman’s red carpet interviewers, fashion guru Tim Gunn, asked him about his most memorable fan. Norman said he has a ton and he could go on and on about fan gifts. He also repeated his breast implant-as-phone-cradle story. Someone really needs to top that gift so he has a second story!
The PCAs also got him a b-day gift, a little motorcycle cupcake to combine his loves of choppers and chocolate. Delish! Now someone needs to give Andrew Lincoln some stuff since he's the best anti-hero on TV.
Congrats to the show — and to the fans who made it happen. Go get yourselves a motorcycle cupcake, you earned it!
The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
