Go ahead and gloat with your "I told you so" — The Walking Dead Season 4’s Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) were dumped from the E! News kiss spoiler on January 9.

“Caryl” was the sixth couple to get the axe in the which characters will kiss tease, with E! writing, “As far as we know, Carol is going to be banished for quite some time. Sorry, Daryl!”

Bad news! Or are you relieved? It’s not like everyone out there is a “Caryl” shipper — and the spoiler wasn’t even great news for folks who do want them to get together.

The E! tease— which still applies to one of the four remaining non-TWD couples — said “one of the hottest could-be couples on TV — a pairing with a decidedly devout 'shipper' following” would finally have an 'epic' first kiss. “The smooch, which will happen pretty soon in the new year, will alter the course of these two characters for the rest of the series.” They said the couple kisses, then one of them “freaks out,” and then one of them gets a new love interest.

TWD isn’t coming back until February 9 and we haven’t even seen Carol since Episode 4. It was always a long-shot to think this tease might be about C&D, but it also doesn’t mean Carol and Daryl won’t get closer eventually, just maybe not exactly like this.

The only real surprise, on our end, is that E! didn’t milk the Carol/Daryl tease further. We figured they’d at least make the final four, even if it was never about them.

Are you glad to see Carol and Daryl are out? Do you think they will kiss at some point, or will they always just be very close friends?

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
