The Walking Dead is about the human survivors of the zombie apocalypse, but there are several shows within the show, and we’re particularly fond of The Gleggie Show — a romantic drama starring Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) that will have special poignancy in the second half of Season 4.

New episodes of TWD start Sunday, February 9 — finally, it’s right around the corner! — and the Gleggie story should be focused on finding each other after the destruction of the prison.

Steven was recently at the Sundance Film Festival promoting his new movie I Origins, but he teased a little bit of what’s next for Glenn and Maggie. Refinery29 asked how it feels to be the core of humanity and connection to real human feelings left in the group. "You know, it's a beautiful story wrapped in such a desolate theme,” Steven said. “I think people are really going to see the true love those two characters have for each other at the second half of the season."

We last saw Glenn, still sick from the flu, on the bus that was leaving the prison. Will Glenn try to go back to the prison to find Maggie, if he thinks she’s still there? Maggie was seen with Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.), who are both at less than full strength in different ways. Will Maggie try to track the bus to find Glenn? Will they just miss each other over and over, torturing each other and the rest of us?

In a recent sneak peek, Lauren said Maggie would be channeling her grief — for her father, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), and the loss of Glenn and her sister Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) — straight into anger. Glenn was seen looking bloody, waking up right next to a walker pit. They will both be facing major stranger dangers out there.

Steven told Refinery29 he couldn’t say whether his character would be safe or not. He also pretended not to know where baby Judith ended up, before admitting he did know but couldn’t say. Grr.

There are a dozen different story tangents with major questions to be answered, but hopefully The Powers That Be understand how much it means for Gleggie to anchor the show as a source of hope and love. Otherwise, what are they doing? Why are they fighting just to exist? Maggie said it earlier this season — survival isn’t the same as living. Gleggie represents life beyond survival, maybe even more than baby Judith.

This show can be enough of a downer sometimes, so hopefully Glenn and Maggie’s Season 4 love story will end up lifting our spirits with a happy reunion win. Eventually.

When do you think Glenn and Maggie will reunite this season? Finale? Earlier? No reunion at all?

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
