Maybe Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) was the lucky one. The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus just told Entertainment Weekly his character Daryl Dixon believes all the Team Prisoners are dead after the Season 4 Episode 8 battle — except for Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) and himself, who left the wreckage together.

A promo showed the youngest Greene child at at fire, telling someone they couldn’t be the only survivors. Beth was probably talking to Daryl, who had JUST learned the fate of his close friend Carol before The Governor (David Morrissey) showed up. (That man never did have good timing.) So Daryl must figure Carol is alive out there somewhere, safe from the prison destruction.

Daryl never had time to process what happened to Carol, or how he felt about Rick Grimes’s (Andrew Lincoln) decision to banish her. It was instant war. But now Daryl is on the road, and EW asked Norman if there’d be more coming from his alter ego on the Rick/Carol situation.

“Daryl going into this first episode doesn’t even know if everyone is alive,” Norman answered. “Right now he thinks everyone is dead. You may or may not see a backlash. The way that we shot that and the way that we directed that, it was left very open-ended. I like the way we didn’t wrap up that storyline with a nice bow yet.”

Yet! We know Carol is returning in the second half, but we know zip about any interactions she might have with Daryl (or Rick). All we’ve heard is that she was seen with Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and the young’uns, so we’re just expecting her to connect with them. We’re hoping everyone from Team Prison finds a way to each other by the March 30 season finale, but that may be too optimistic.

As it stands, we’re not even expecting to see much of Daryl and Beth on Sunday’s Episode 9, which is meant to focus on Rick, Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) and Michonne (Danai Gurira). Fans may have to wait until Episode 10 to see what’s next for Mr. Dixon.

Do you hope we have more Daryl/Carol scenes in the second half or are you OK with both characters interacting with other people?
