Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to carve out at least eight hours to rewatch — and study! — the first half of The Walking Dead Season 4, in preparation for the next eight episodes.

If you don't have the episodes DVR'd or On Demand or anything, you can watch them again during AMC's Season 4 marathon, starting with "30 Days Without an Accident"  at 12:55 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 9.

Why do you need this extra homework? One, because it's been two months since Episode 8 aired and you may need a refresher before Episode 9, and two because producer/writer Robert Kirkman says there are hints in the first half on what's to come, and viewers will be "shocked" by what they didn't notice right away.

Entertainment Weekly asked RK if we'd learn more about the "sanctuary" radio message we heard in the car in the first half. Here's his answer:

"We will absolutely, definitely learn a ton more about that. I think that the first eight episodes of the season probably deserve a rewatch if you’re really invested in what’s coming up. And when it comes time in a couple of years when you watch all of Season 4 as a whole there are so many hints and so many little bread crumbs thrown out that are going to be paid off in the back half of Season 4 that people are going to be shocked at the things that they didn’t notice. There are so many little things that are unresolved and are going to be picked up and addressed in these last eight episodes and that recording is definitely chief among them but there’s a lot of stuff we’re going to be dealing with."

Excellent. He said that includes stuff about whoever put the rats by the fence and dissected that rabbit. Separately, he noted, "I think after the end of these eight episodes you’re going to be acutely aware of who these people are and I think they’re going to be some really shocking revelations about what makes people tick and who they really are at their core."

Maybe the shocking revelations will be related to the hints — like this has all been one big murder mystery where we should've seen the clues along the way. Do you think the hints have to do with new characters like Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino), Mika (Kyla Kenedy) and Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.)? Some fans have thought all along that Lizzie might really be responsible for killing Karen and David. Is that true? Is she connected to the rats? What about Bob and his mysterious past? What will we learn about him? What hints were we given and what will they mean?

Now would be a good time for you to drop some theories from the first half, so you can brag if you're right.

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
