The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 9, "After," which told the post-prison stories of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs), and Michonne (Danai Gurira), was pretty bleak. The new Grimes household was especially depressing, with Rick still recovering from the beat-down he got from The Governor (David Morrissey) — to the point where Carl thought he was dead. At the end of the episode, though, a knock at the door disrupts the pity party at the Rick and Carl House o' Sads! And it's a good knock; we leave the ever-shrinking Grimes family with Rick laughing and telling Carl that it's for him. So of course, we're all thinking: Is it Michonne?

If Michonne didn't seem like the most likely option already, they confirmed it on The Talking Dead! It was totally Michonne knocking on the door. We breathed a sigh of relief when Danai and host Chris Hardwick discussed it ("when Michonne knocked on the door," Chris said as part of a question, as if we weren't on the edge of our seats about it) even though we'd already seen her basically follow Rick and Carl's path. Right before the knock at the door, we even saw Michonne searching through the bar that Rick and Carl had settled on right before hunkering down at the new house.

So why was the knock at the door for Carl and not Rick? Michonne, we think, is holding Carl's shoe. We're calling it right now.

Still, it's not like it's a terrible thing for Rick, either. Who else besides Michonne could possibly make him laugh like that?
