Hershel Greene’s  (Scott Wilson) death shook Team Prison to its core, that was Robert Kirkman’s wish after all, but does the old man’s demise mean that Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) and Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) will call off their engagement?

Steven revealed that Glenn doesn’t even know about Hershel’s death, and we have yet to see how Maggie or her sister Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) will process the game-changing loss. We’re holding out hope that with Hershel’s passing Glenn and Maggie will realize just how much they love each other, but everyone metabolizes grief differently and it’s possible Maggie will shut down and have no interest in marrying the former pizza delivery dude now that her dad is gone.

When E! News talked to The Walking Dead’s executive producer Gale Anne Hurd about Gleggie’s future, she was extremely pragmatic. “I think it would have been great to have a wedding, but everyone's on the run, and I think survival is first and foremost on people's minds.” Agreed, there can’t be a wedding if the bride and groom aren’t alive!

Assuming there is a wedding at some point, Gale has a vague idea of how she’d like to see it play out on screen, or rather, what she doesn’t wish to see. “I'd certainly love to see the antithesis of The Bachelor wedding," she dishes. "But ultimately it's not going to be the same without poor Hershel walking them down the aisle.”

Every little girl dreams of her father walking her down the aisle on her wedding day, and though a Hershel-less wedding may be bittersweet for Maggie, if Team Prison manages to reunite she’ll have her pick of strapping men who would likely be honored to sub in for her dearly departed pops— we’re looking at you Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)!

Though Gale doesn’t see a wedding happening super-soon, she says we shouldn’t give up hope that someone left in this world will be able to find a cure. To that point, she left us with this little tease: “I think one always holds out hope that not only did certain institutions survive, especially scientific research institutions, but that a cure can be found — a vaccine, an inoculation, whatever. That's a storyline that is in the comic books as well, that there's one character who might hold the key to that knowledge.”

Our money is on one of the three newbies finding a cure (or at least thinking they have) but we’re not making any promises.
