We didn’t get to see Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) on the Season 4 midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, but two sneak peeks tell us that we will be seeing Beth and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) in next Sunday’s Episode 10, “Inmates”.

In the sneak peeks we’ve seen so far, Beth — who is still grieving the loss of her father, Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson) pushes Daryl to look for other Team Prison survivors. And although he seems to have given up, eventually he relents.

Emily recently chatted with Refinery29 about her music and TWD and talked about the humanity that exists in the series, which is likely part of what’s made it so successful. “Yeah, it’s like, 'Do you love me?' You either do or you don’t,” she explained. “Everything has to happen immediately. You’re not guaranteed the next moment. It makes everything heightened. You get your answers faster.”

With that sentiment in mind, Emily was then asked if there’s any romance ahead for her character, who started off the season losing her boyfriend Zach to a walker and not even shedding a tear about it. “I hope. I think that Beth is really alone. You can see it in the first episode where she was all, ‘It was nice to know him.’ I think she’s put up a lot of defenses to deal with things. I think the people she’s closest to — even if she had that boyfriend — are her sister and father. I don’t really believe Beth has been in love in the way that someone really knows you. I think that’s something she has yet to experience.”

As we mentioned, Beth is currently roughing it with Daryl, and although a possible romance involving those two has been hinted at in the past, we think Beth needs to grieve a bit before opening up her heart. Or she could turn to Daryl in her time of despair and they could “keep warm” by that fire they built…

But as much as we’d love to see Beth in love, Robert Kirkman seems to have counted out Daryl as a possible suitor, at least for now. The TWD mastermind recently spoke about Daryl’s struggle between his new self (as a member of Team Prison) and his pre-apocalyptic old self, and said that Beth would be “caught in that crossfire.” That doesn’t sound lovey-dovey to us, but on this show you never know — love is a battlefield!

Do you think Beth is ready for love, or should she be focusing on other things (like, ya know, surviving) now instead? Vote below!

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
