Maggie Greene’s (Lauren Cohan) little sister is coming into her own, starting with this Sunday’s Episode 10, “Inmates,” but that doesn’t mean she’s going to stop the music. Emily told Rolling Stone, “It's part of Beth's personality, so of course,” she’ll continue to sing. But she’ll finally get to do more than that, too.
In the prison, Beth was mostly seen caring for baby Judith, but now she’s with Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), and has no idea what happened to anyone else after the Episode 8 battle. The Episode 10 sneak peek videos suggest Beth is the one who wants to take action to search for others. She’s motivated, but is she prepared? Can Beth fight? Can Beth survive without the stability of the prison? These are things we’ll learn in the second half.
“You'll definitely see her a lot,” Emily told the music mag. “Not just with her character, but with a lot of characters — you're going to get to really see what they've been thinking about. For example: What has Beth been going through this whole time? And what is her thought process, because some of that hasn't been explored as much.” This is the second time Emily has mentioned getting inside Beth’s head in the next episodes, so it sounds like some Psych 101 may be coming our way. (Will she talk about the journal she had been keeping? We saw it briefly back on the Season 4 premiere.)
Beth and Daryl are the main focuses of the two sneak peeks for Episode 10, but “Inmates” is meant to cover four different storylines. “You're gonna see all the characters scattered, because we no longer have the prison,” Emily previewed the February 16 ep. “You're going to see a more in-depth look into each of the characters and how they're each dealing with their circumstance on their own, rather than as a group. It's good. It's scary.”
Good and scary — we’ll take it! Are you happy to hear Beth will continue to sing in the second half? It is tradition, at this point...
The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
