Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) has probably had the toughest time out of all of the Team Prison members, but as Steven explains in a behind-the-scenes video for The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 10: “Inmates,” the former pizza delivery guy isn’t one to give up easily.

Sure, he woke up at the overrun prison surrounded by walkers, but Glenn then methodically searched the place for survivors before going anywhere. “He’s a resourceful guy, toughened, hardened by that world but fearing that there might not be anything to live for anymore,” Steven says of his on-screen counterpart, whose first order of business was looking for Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan). “He is resilient and he holds out hope. He’s a man with a mission. His meaning is that mission.”

Maggie’s mission is to find Glenn, and Glenn’s mission is to find her. How can these two not reunite after all of this struggle?! Don’t get any ideas, Kirkman!

But Glenn puts his mission on pause when he spots Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson). Why exactly did he stop? According to Steven, Glenn had two reasons for rescuing the newbie from her cage.

“The reason why Glenn saves Tara is twofold: Glenn is someone who identifies with humanity, with not being able to leave someone behind. Also, in order to carry on in this world, he needs people.”

Both are valid reasons; plus it’s important to remember that at this point, Glenn had no idea that Tara was Team Governor. But she did trust him and watched as he destroyed everything, hence her decision to seek comfort in the cage. “I think after ruining these people’s home and the prison and seeing what The Governor did to Hershel, Tara doesn’t really want to live,” Alanna notes.

Luckily for her, Glenn has other plans. “That’s not an option for Glenn,” Steven declares. “That’s never been an option for Glenn to sit and die.”

And so the duo heads away from the prison and stumbles upon a walker herd, where Tara really gets her rage out.“She just steps into action and I think her final kill you see all this frustration come out and she’s just letting go of everything, taking it out on the walkers.”

Unbeknownst to Glenn and Tara, Sgt. Sgt. Abraham Ford, (Michael Cudlitz) Dr. Eugene Porter, (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos) are watching them as they hack away. In the final moments of the clip, Josh summarizes what this new trio is thinking: “We pull up on Tara just going nuts on a walker. We kinda see that, ‘OK, we can assemble a little army here.’”

We’ll have to see what Season 4, Episode 11: “Claimed” has in store, but we’re expecting Glenn and Tara to go along with Abraham and his people, at least for the time being.

Do you think Glenn and Tara can trust Abraham? Check out the video below and tell us what you think.
