We must admit that we felt kind of badly for Tyreese (Chad Coleman) on The Walking Dead since he was charged with taking care of three young girls in the aftermath of the fall of the prison. Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) clearly has a screw (or two) loose, her younger sister Mika Samuels (Kyla Kenedy) can’t even kill a walker that’s right in front of her face, and baby Judith just won’t stop crying. To be fair though, Lizzie did save his life.

In a behind the scenes video for Season 4, Episode 10: “Inmates,” Chad says Tyreese stayed with the kiddos because he “feels a profound responsibility.” “We need the children, that’s the future,” he continued. Still, Lizzie is certainly a complex kid, and when she remarked that Mika isn’t like Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) because she’s still alive, that most definitely stung.

“When Lizzie said that it certainly reverberates inside of him because he doesn't know what’s going on with his sister,” Chad noted.

Is Lizzie “messed up”? Is she a full-fledged sociopath? Nothing’s been determined just yet, but even the show’s executive producer Gale Anne Hurd acknowledges that there’s something not quite right with this little blondie.

“Lizzie has an interesting take on human life, and she knows that they’re lives are in danger,” Gale says when speaking about Lizzie’s unusual way of quieting the baby. “Perhaps she is capable of smothering Judith to keep them all safe. It is really not something she seems to struggle with,” Gale concludes.

We hope Lizzie’s state of mind will be explored more as the season continues, because there’s clearly a juicy story there. In the meantime, we hope Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) is in charge of holding Judith from now on.

Speaking of Carol, showrunner Scott Gimple said this of her long-awaited return and initial conversation with Tyreese: “It’s an incredibly loaded moment. Who knows what he’s going to do?”

Tyreese, like the girls, has no idea that Carol wasn’t in the prison when it fell, but we’re sure he’ll learn that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) banished her for killing Karen and David at some point. The longer they wait for the reveal, the higher the tension.

Are you happy that Tyreese, Carol, Lizzie, Mika, and Judith are all together, or is this situation just one big ticking time bomb? Check out the behind the scenes video below and tell us what you think.

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
