As promised, the second half of The Walking Dead Season 4 had a “bleak” start, but there should be light at the end of the 16-episode tunnel. There may also be love in the meantime, beyond Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) searching the wild for each other.

In the recent issue of TV Guide magazine, showrunner Scott Gimple talked about the importance of uplifting storylines, including a new romane to be introduced later this year. Who gets the lovin’?

Our first guess is Bob Stookey (Larry Gilliard Jr.) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). They hinted to that back in the first half when she wanted to thank him for giving her medication. They bantered a bit more in Episode 10 while Maggie searched for Glenn. We’re still waiting for more information on Bob’s history, but a romance with Sasha could tie him to this group in a way maybe he didn’t connect the last two times he was the last guy standing.

If it isn’t Bob and Sasha, hopefully it isn’t Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), since that’s not technically a new romance. They were already together in the comics and they’ll be arriving on screen in a relationship so that feels like cheating.

A Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) / Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) romance has already been shut down, but what about Daryl and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride)? That would certainly make Caryl fans happy, even if Carol and Daryl haven’t even seen each other since Episode 4. Or what about Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and Carol? They just formed an insta-family with the three kids, and Ty and Carol did have a relationship in the comics, even though their characters are both very different on TV. (And Ty also had a fling with Michonne in the books.) Or what about Richonne? Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) are also playing house at this point, bonding more every day. It could happen.

Any other ideas? Who is most likely to get the romance, do you think? Bob and Sasha or another couple?

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
