Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) was on a recent installment of The Wrap’s Drinking With the Stars, during which he was asked to describe some of his costars and various other celebrities in one word and much more. Norman also talked about Season 4 of The Walking Dead, and though he couldn’t reveal much about what’s to come, he did give us a hint at something very interesting when answering a question from a fan.

Said fan went on Twitter and noted that it looks like Norman’s Daryl is holding an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake in a portion of a Season 4 promo. She then assumed the slithery sucker was a prop, but Norman set her straight.“No that was real, that was a real snake,” he revealed.

The legless creature in question is likely the one we see Daryl killing in this sneak peek for Season 4, Episode 12: “Still.” First he grabs the snake with a stick, then he jabs a knife through its head. It’s pretty gross, and we recommend that if you have a fear of snakes you turn away, but it turns out that there might be more to this reptile than meets the eye.

We’ll let Norman explain. “I can’t tell you what happens with that snake, but a piece of that snake ended up being Andy Lincoln’s wrap present for Season 4.”

The only feasible thing we can think of is that the snake turns into a walker snake after Daryl kills it and maybe it makes a beeline for Beth Greene (Emily Kinney), but we’ll have to wait until this Sunday (March 2) to find out if that’s really the case.

As for the snake being part of Andy’s Season 4 wrap present, Norman admitted that his co-star wasn’t all that enthused about the parting gift. “He didn’t like it at all,” Norman noted with a laugh.

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
