UPDATE: This is it. Top 10 readers' choice voting starts now, so head to Facebook where you can "like" Norman Reedus's Atlanta magazine cover — or Andrew Lincoln's cover, which is also in the running. Fans must've "liked" his Atlanta cover enough for him to make the finals, even if Norman smoked everyone in that Entertainment category. Anyway, vote for one of the TWD guys to win!
You didn’t forget about the magazine cover contest, did you? We’re not done!
The Walking Dead fans turned out in force for Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), handing his Atlanta magazine cover an easy win in the Entertainment and Celebrity category of the American Society of Magazine Editors’ best cover contest. That was in January and that category is closed, so now we just have to get ready for the final round, which is coming at the end of March.
Are you ready for how badly Norman crushed the competition? His cover won by a landslide with 19,000 “likes.” There was a time when Josh Hutcherson was beating him, and Kim Kardashian was close behind. Josh ended with 7,200 “likes” and Kim’s cover had to settle for 3,600 likes. Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) held strong, and his Atlanta cover tied Josh’s 7.2K likes. Everything else was far behind. You did this, TWD Family! Back pats all around.
So now what? The contest is still going, with other magazines trying to win in their own categories. Currently the “Most Delicious” covers are up.
As the official site explains, the ASME Best Contest Readers’ Choice Award began on Facebook on Monday, January 13, and ends on Sunday, April 13. A new category is posted every Monday through March 17. The top 10 entries will be posted for two weeks from March 31 to April 13. The most “liked” cover will win the ASME Best Cover Contest Readers’ Choice Award. The Cover of the Year and the Readers’ Choice Award winners will be announced at the ASME Annual Meeting on April 30 in New York.
TWD’s Entertainment and Celebrity category closed on January 26, and the tenth and final group — “Sexiest” covers — votes from March 17-23. (The Walking Dead covers should be featured in that category too, and maybe they will be.) Either way, we have to come back to “like” Norman’s Atlanta cover at some point during the March 31-April 13 window so it can win the whole shebang.
We can do this, people! Mark your calendars and prepare to head here to vote.
The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
