Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) spend one episode together (Episode 12: “Still”) and suddenly the whole Walking Dead world as we know it changes. On Talking Dead last Sunday it was easy to see that Norman and Emily have bonded thanks to the countless hours they spent together shooting “Still,” and clearly their characters are now uniquely tethered to one another as well.

Emily stopped by CBS’ The Couch earlier this week and talked about how Beth has managed to evolve and what lies ahead. “Beth has been trying to find her place. There are so many strong personalities on the show and in order to survive you have to really be a fighter and be tough and I think that Beth has been slowly figuring out how she survives in this kind of world,” Emily explained.

The Nebraska native later played a fun question and answer game with the two hosts. When they asked her who her favorite TWD character is (aside from Beth of course) Emily responded without missing a beat. “Daryl, definitely.”

We’re a bit surprised that Ems didn’t pick her sister Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) or her dearly departed dad Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson), but given everything Beth and Daryl have been through as of late, the reformed country boy is a sensical choice. Beth saw Daryl at his most vulnerable point and she let him in too. There’s a comfort and a bond there now that won’t be easily broken. We just have to cross our fingers and hope that they both make it out of the season as humans, not walkers.

Are you surprised that Emily easily named Daryl as her favorite TWD character? Do you agree? Check out the complete clip and tell us your thoughts below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
