There really is no stopping Robert Kirkman and The Walking Dead. His post-apocalyptic comic book world has spawned, novels, video games, a hit television show of the same name, a spin-off for that television show, board games, and now, a mobile game.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, The Walking Dead is about get its own mobile game, the first ever based on the hit drama. AMC has apparently teamed up with Next Games for the venture, which they plan to release on smartphones and tablets. The game, which doesn’t have a title yet, is scheduled to be released in time for the shows fifth season premiere this October and will be available across the globe.

THR notes that, much like the show, plot details of the game aren’t being discussed, though Next Games promises it will have a familiar feel to the show we know and love. Next Games CEO Teemu Huuhtanen tells THR, “Our take on the undead survival franchise will match the against-all-odds action and moment-to-moment tension of the TV series. We want to find that sweet spot where gameplay and narrative inform and reinforce one another.” But, as stated above, he mentioned that details will be kept under wraps for now.

It’s clear that Next Games is excited for this venture, and AMC appears to be just as psyched. “We chose to team up with Next Games because of their outstanding creative and technical talent, as well as a willingness to reimagine the unique and compelling world of The Walking Dead, which has built a significant and passionate global fan community,” AMC prez Charlie Collier explained. "We’re thrilled to be part of this next wave of games innovation and participating in a project that — like the show itself — is in service of the fans.”

Though this is the first TWD game that’s endorsed by AMC, Robert’s world has already spawned  The Walking Dead: Assault, Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead, and several other TWD variations.

We’re not going to lie, we wish we knew just a bit more about this upcoming game, but we’re still looking forward to the October 2014 release. Will you be downloading this game for your tablet and/or smartphone? Tell us your plans below!
