With only two episodes of The Walking Dead Season 4 left, it’s only natural for us to start thinking about Season 5, which is set to start filming in the coming months. At last year’s New York Comic Con, it was revealed that actor Michael Cudlitz had been cast as Abraham Ford, a fan-favorite from the comics who eventually befriends Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and is responsible for leading the group to Washington D.C.

We were super psyched about the news, but so far Abraham has only appeared in a handful of episodes in Season 4 and we can’t say we know much about him. Given his minor presence thus far in TWD’s fourth season, can we expect Abe to be back for more in Season 5?

If Michael has anything to do with it, then yes! The TWD newbie hosted a brief Q&A with his Twitter followers yesterday, March 18, and one curious fan asked if we’ll be seeing more of him next season. “I hope so,” he answered. We hope so too!

Though Abraham has only been featured in a few episode’s thus far — including this Sunday’s Season 4, Episode 15: “Us” — we think that may actually work in his favor. As fans of The Walking Dead comics know, there’s much more to Abraham’s story than what we’ve seen on TV so far, and we can pretty much bet that comic book superfan and current showrunner Scott Gimple is itching to give us more.

When Michael signed on to play Abraham last year he acknowledged that his time on TWD may be pretty short. “There’s no guarantee of how long or how short it will be, which is one of the things I actually find pretty exciting about the job after being locked into Southland for so many years,” he told TVLine. “But [Abraham] is very important in the comic, so I imagine even if it IS short, it’ll be bright.”

To us, his thinking sounds spot on. Like we said, there’s a lot of untapped potential with Abraham and we’d be surprised if he didn't continue on in Season 5. Hopefully the same can be said for his gal pal, Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), but we can’t say we’d miss Dr. Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt).
