The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 14: “The Grove” was one of the most controversial albeit memorable instalments in recent memory. There were only five characters in the episode (including baby Judith) but by the end of the hour two of them were dead.

In a shocking turn of events, walker-obsessed Lizzie Samuels (Brighton Sharbino) fatally stabbed her sister, Mika Samuels (Kyla Kenedy) in a moment that was only topped in the final minutes of the episode when Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) took matters into her own hands and shot Lizzie because she and Tyreese (Chad Coleman) reasoned that Lizzie could no longer be around other people.

In light of the March 16 installment’s heavy subject matter, Wetpaint Entertainment asked Viggle LIVE users if TWD should kill off children. We were somewhat surprised that 76 percent of responders believed that killing off kids is fine because it’s part of the world that our characters live in, while only 24 percent felt that kids dying sends the wrong message.

Lizzie and Mika were hardly the first children’s deaths on TWD (Sophia and Meghan are just two of the young people who previously passed away) but they were easily the most poignant and brutal. Even Melissa called the episode “devastating”.
