At the end of The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 15, Glenn and Maggie's groups arrived at Terminus. It was suspiciously quiet for a place so well-advertised (radio, road signs), but they did get through the fence, see a vegetable garden, and run into a woman. She was busy cooking, but she welcomed them to Terminus, said her name was Mary, and said she’d get them settled and offer them a plate of food.

It could be a real sanctuary, like a new prison, but the promo for the Episode 16 season finale was so creepy, it automatically made us distrust Terminus even more than we did before.

Who is Mary (Denise Crosby)? Well, we don't know, but a while back there was speculation about an actress originally credited on Ep 16 as a Featured Terminan being the lone female member of The Hunters. The Hunters are cannibals in the comic books, and even though it was never confirmed that they would be coming on the show at all, we've been waiting for the storyline to emerge.

In the comics, there are six members of The Hunters, and the female member is named Theresa. It wouldn't be unusual for the TV show to change her name, to make it less obvious, as well as tweaking other details. The Hunters had a base in an estate area with large homes, and the factory-esque Terminus we saw on screen is almost a better match for The Sanctuary of The Saviors base in the comics.

What if Mary was cookin’ up some human food? What if Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) is already there? What if they prey on weak or injured people? Tara (Alanna Masterson) hurt her leg…and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) was all beat up in the promo, presumably from Joe’s Marauders, but it could make him an easy target, if The Hunters are here and this is what they do.

It’s still entirely possible that Mary is just a nice lady cooking BBQ. Then again, where did she get the food to cook, and where is everyone else?

Greg Nicotero told The Hollywood Reporter Mary isn’t alone. "She's the one that we see first but we'll quite quickly meet others." He revealed that one of those others is this Gareth we've been hearing about. "In this particular situation, it's easy for them to get in," Greg continued. "It's not like they had to go through checkpoints or anything. As they're walking in to Terminus, the gate is open and there's a note that says to close it behind you. We see flowers and we hear a bit of noise from some people milling about. Mary just happens to be the first one; she's the welcoming committee." (Tip: Don’t look at the flowers! That doesn’t end well.)

It’s all still speculation at this point, but are you nervous about Mary or do you think she could be a good person — like one of the Alexandria Safe-Zone residents, just in a Georgia version?

The Walking Dead Season 4 finale airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
