Robert Kirkman could use a good cloning. He writes The Walking Dead comic books, which will soon release Issue #126. He also executive produces the AMC TV show, which is about to begin production on Season 5. He’s also co-writing/producing the spin-off/companion series that’s hitting AMC in 2015. He’s also producing a movie with Norman Reedus, working on other comic/TV projects, and presumably hanging out with his wife and kids at some point.

But now he’s also collaborating on four more Walking Dead novels, with the first coming out on October 14, 2014, timed around the premiere of TWD Season 5. (Someone should just have RK write the final Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire novels in his off time.)

According to Entertainment Weekly, Robert and Jay Bonansinga are re-teaming for the new series, which follows their last co-written books: The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor, The Walking Dead: The Road to Woodbury, and The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor, which was released in two parts.

The first new novel will be called The Walking Dead: Descent. Entertainment Weekly got a sneak peek of the cover, which shows walkers in a tunnel. Descent will follow comic book/Woodbury novel character Lilly Caul as she returns to Woodbury and attempts to rebuild it after The Governor’s failed assault on the prison. (That job would be a lot harder on TV, since the AMC version of The Gov. burned the place.)

“I’m thrilled to be working with Jay Bonansinga on more novels,” RK told EW. “There is quite a bit of unexplored territory left in the Walking Dead universe and I think people are going to love what Jay brings to this world in this medium.”

So the Walking Dead universe now includes the comics, the novels, the TV show, the spin-off (which will not be tied to the comics), and the webisodes (which always have a little tie to the TV show). Oh, and the video games. Let no one say Robert Kirkman’s zombie apocalypse has not been milked to its full potential!
