UPDATE: Chase Vasser tweeted on May 16 that he would not be on The Walking Dead after all. Producer Gale Anne Hurd further called him a "fraud," saying he was never cast on the show. Wow!

Original story:

AMC may end up serving this guy at Mary's BBQ stand for real.

According to Comicbook.com, former University of Georgia football player turned actor Chase Vasser landed a role on The Walking Dead Season 5, tweeted about it, added a potential spoiler, then deleted the tweets. Bless his heart!

On April 3, he tweeted, “Just got word from my agent that I landed a role for SUITS next season. Also have audition for The Walking Dead! #blessed #killingmyself.” He later tweeted, “It’s Official! Tune in on Oct 13th on AMC for The Walking Dead! #cannibaltwist.” On April 14 he added this tweet, which is still on his timeline: “Bad timing to say I’ve never watch an episode of The Walking Dead. Gotta Catch Up ASAP!”

Before you get too excited over October 13 as the premiere date for Season 5, that's actually a Monday. But did he tweet a legit spoiler with the "#cannibaltwist"? It's especially interesting if you pair it with the idea that he's not familiar with the show, so would he even know enough to realize there's cannibal speculation already out there? Maybe he just tweeted based on what he was told about the role, without realizing Walking Dead fans would pick up on the hashtag as a possible clue.

That #cannibaltwist tweet is gone, but he also added on April 14, "So ready to start eating full meals again. Looking super skinny! #methodactor."

Skinny Terminus guy stuck in a train car, eating just enough to stay alive so he could be eaten by Termites? Maybe? Maybe not? We didn't really need more hints to cannibals at Terminus — and E! News even referenced man-eaters in its recent spoiler story — but now we can add this to the list.

Season 5 filming is supposed to start in early May, and the cast is meant to arrive in the Atlanta area pretty soon to prepare for production. We’ll have to keep an eye out for Chase when the show premieres in October.

The Walking Dead Season 5 premieres in October 2014 on AMC.
